You finally decided to take action with your fitness-related goals, you start eating healthy and working out, until one day you decide to measure your progress by weighting yourself only to get disappointed by the number you see… Then you sabotage yourself and feel frustrated cause all your hard work did not worked! Sounds familiar ??? Yeah.. I know, been there done that lol!
First let me tell you, you are not alone! I was there too, thinking that the best way to measure my progress was by seeing the number in the scale, until I finally discovered I was soooo WRONG ABOUT IT!
Our weight will normally fluctuate every day and every couple hours, that’s caused because of different stuff such as digestion, water, sodium, your period (girls lol), how much you ate, muscle mass, bones density, inflammation, etc. Lots of factors contribute to these daily fluctuations in our weight which is completely NORMAL. I can tell you that when I realized that my progress had nothing to do with my weight, my mentality changed completely and now it’s way easier for me to reach my goals without sabotaging my progress. There are other good ways to measure your progress such as the way your clothes fit, taking pictures or measuring your body fat; those are real ways to measure progress because as I told you before your weight will change INEVITABLY. It’s also pretty common to see an increase in your weight whenever you start a new training program (inflammation in the body and water retention) and it usually subsides 2-3 weeks after you start training. Also, don’t forget that muscle weights way more than fat and it’s completely possible to look smaller/toned without losing a single pound or even gaining some pounds.
Don’t let the scale bring you down!!! Avoid weighting yourself often, and… Remember that you are BEAUTIFUL; the number on the scale has nothing to do with your worth as a person in this world <3
